Review process:
The video editing review process at Salvo Image is streamlined and efficient, ensuring clients have a hands-on approach to crafting their final video content. Initially, all interviews captured on location are uploaded to Dropbox Replay, allowing clients to watch, read the accompanying transcripts, and directly mark their preferences within the video link.
This direct feedback integrates seamlessly with Salvo Image's editing software, guaranteeing that only the best segments of each interview make it to the final cut. Following this selection process, Salvo Image pairs the chosen quotes with fitting b-roll, photos, and graphics to assemble a rough cut video. This version is then shared with the client via Dropbox Replay for further review, where they can request changes, including swapping footage and specifying lower third graphics such as correct spelling of names for titles. After incorporating this feedback, a fine cut video is prepared for final client review and export, ensuring the end product perfectly aligns with the client's vision and requirements.
“Ok, this is great and all, but how much is it to make my video?”
Estimated costs and planning:
The cost of a five-minute video by Salvo Image can vary significantly due to differing service requirements and variables involved in the filming and editing processes. A basic scenario with a single day of filming at $2800, without additional travel expenses, coupled with an estimated 14 hours of editing at $100 per hour, would bring the total cost to $4200. However, if the project necessitates travel to the filming location the night before, at a cost of $600, followed by a half day of filming at $1800, and includes photography services priced at $500 plus 2 hours of photo editing, along with the standard 14 hours of video editing at the same hourly rate, the total project cost could be $4500. This illustrates the variability in pricing based on the specific requirements and additional services of each video project.
For clients requiring solely color-corrected b-roll shots and photos, Salvo Image offers an editing service at a rate of $100 per hour. Typically, editing 40 b-roll clips and 100 photos takes around 6 hours, making this a specialized and efficient option for those in need of professional-grade visual content without the need for extensive editing or additional production services.
Salvo Image prides themselves on a quick turnaround time on deliverables usually within 3 weeks of the production date. This timeline is dependent on the client acting swiftly when curating their notes back.
In addition to the variable costs associated with different services and project requirements, Salvo Image emphasizes the importance of meticulous planning at least two weeks in advance of the production day. Clients are expected to provide accurate addresses and detailed shot requirements to ensure that appropriate travel arrangements can be made and the necessary gear is prepared for the start of production. This proactive planning is crucial for the smooth execution of the project. It's also important to note that effective communication is key; failure to communicate essential details can lead to cancellation fees of up to $500 per occurrence if the production day is canceled or rescheduled within 72 hours of its planned start. This policy underscores the significance of clear and timely coordination between Salvo Image and its clients to avoid unnecessary costs and ensure the project's success.
